With the 2018 Winter Olympics upon us, now is a great time to discuss how athletes can improve their performance by seeking out quality chiropractic and nutritional support.
Increasingly professional athletes are making statements regarding their preferred methods of recovery and rehabilitation; not surprising that chiropractors are found amongst the group of trainers and healthcare practitioners travelling with these athletes to support their health and well-being.
Olympic sprinter, Usain Bolt said this regarding chiropractic, his health, and performance, “I don’t always win gold medals, but when I do I get adjusted first. Stay healthy my friends.” – Usain Bolt
Usain is among many professional athletes who regularly use chiropractic care to stay adjusted and maintain overall health.
Lance Armstrong, winner of the Tour De France stated, “I could have won the Tour De France without the assistance of my chiropractor.” -Lance Armstrong
When thinking about the systems of the body, how they are all connected, and how disruption to those systems will cause dis-ease, it’s important to look at how they are connected in the most basic sense.
The skeletal system is supported by the muscular system and all systems are controlled by the nervous system. When we fall or take a significant hit, stress is put on the skeletal system which then puts added stress on the muscular system. Because the nerves all come from the brain and spinal cord, and out small junctions along the spine, any misalignment will create disruption to those nerves. This in turn manifests in disruption to the normal function of all organs, muscular tissue, and even connective tissues (including scar tissue) of the body because they are all connected and interdependent.
Chiropractic adjustments and quality nutritional support can help athletes, at any age, to perform at their most optimal levels by taking away any disruptions in the skeletal system which in turn allows the nervous system to function at its highest and providing excellent nutritional support to further enhance the body’s normal function.
